Laucala Island Fiji: Ultra All-Inclusive

Set among coconut groves I found heaven. Laucala, pronounced Lathala, is the most incredible island stay I’ve ever experienced. The owner of this exclusive island privately owns and provides “Ultra” all-inclusive, serious luxury.

From the private jet greeting on the mainland to the beauty of the coral reefs and turquoise waters, a stay in any one of the 25 villas on the island is certain to give you the most incredible dream island experience.

Laucala Island Fiji

The 1400-hectare of Laucala Island Fiji Island accommodates a maximum of only 80 guests in 11 Plantation Villas, 4 Plateau Villas, 7 Seagrass Villas, 1 Peninsula, 1 Overwater Villa, and a 3-bedroom Hilltop Estate. No expense has been spared here.

Skilled artisans have crafted each thatched roof villa with beautiful natural materials and have fenced them to give guests absolute privacy, a feature that is popular amongst the island’s celebrity guests. Oprah and Elle McPherson have posted their stays here on social media.

Our Plantation Villa for 2 nights was a complete oasis, luxurious beyond words. As we walked in, a spacious king bedroom greeted us, featuring both an indoor and outdoor bathroom. Each bathroom was equipped with a large bathtub, one made of wood and the other made of stone, allowing us the freedom to choose based on our preferences. Additionally, we were delighted to find house-made bath products provided for our use.

A covered walkway attached to a separate lounge bureau stocked daily with premium wines, spirits, mixers, coffee pods, and freshly made snacks complete with a mobile phone and Bose sound system. Stepping out onto the patio area we find a cabana and plush daybeds surrounding a full-size pool overlooking your own private beach.

The villa also came with a golf buggy so we could explore the island at our leisure. I really did think I’d possibly die and go to heaven. An inspection of the other villa types was part of my visit. They only got bigger and better if that is at all possible.

The Laucala Island Fiji Island has 5 restaurants with a team of 37 chefs preparing the highest quality farm/ocean-to-table meals with most of the produce coming from the island’s own farm.

Coconut Crab

The Coconut Crab was my favorite meal and is their most popular dish. Fine dining, Asian fusion, and casual meals with a choice of premium wines and spirits are all on offer also with the option of delivery to the privacy of your villa and all options included in the price of your villa. Cigars, whilst not my thing, are also complementary.

If I had to have 1 complaint, honestly it could only be not having enough time to enjoy all the facilities and activities. Even though the Laucala caters to a maximum of only 80 guests the island’s owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, also the co-owner of Red Bull, has thought of everything including a 2-person semi-submersible for those wanting to explore the surrounding reef life without getting wet.

In my 3 days, I did find time for a horse ride, snorkeling, and jetskiing around the island, a private yoga session followed by a massage by the pool in my villa, and a visit to the hydroponic gardens and farm. Had I been there longer I would have added a day trip to Taveuni Island for the waterfalls, a dive at the legendary Great White Wall site, a visit to the gym, and some time to just relax on the beach.

There is also kitesurfing an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd, and a Riviera Open Flybridge available for leisurely trips and game fishing.

If you are looking for privacy with Ultra inclusive luxury, Laucala is the island for you.
