What we really liked

  • The food in the main dining room was varied nightly and of good quality.
  • Option of and the variety of food in the buffet.
  • The adults only pool at the back of the ship was strictly adults only unlike other ships. we’ve experienced with adult only areas.
  • Great organisation on tender port days. Off the ship by 8am for a 9am shore excursion.
  • Only ever 1 day at sea before a port destination
  • Drinks package included specialty coffee & bottled water
  • Good selection of bars & entertainment to choose from

What we didn't like so much

  • The hard sell in the spa for extra products when you’d already paid a premium price for the treatment.
  • Pool towels supplies were sometimes not replenished.
  • The décor in the cabins is well maintained but could do with a refresh
  • Ship shore excursions were expensive. Other options are available. Ask me where to find these.

Summary

Princess Cruises offer 4-star cruise itineraries all around the world best suited for the 50+ age group. Their cruise prices offer value of money for quality service, but I recommend preparing to avoid the hard sell for extra products in the spa & activities such as wine tastings and art appreciation.

Our Experience

In 2018 I started thinking about my partner’s 50th birthday in June 2019. Should I spend $1500-$2000 on a party here or plan a bucket list overseas holiday? I mentioned the idea to a friend who suggested a Mediterranean cruise. Spain, France, Italy and Greece, never more than a day at sea, it all sounded pretty good. Word got out and by this time we had 20 friends between ages 46-58 wanting to join us. I began researching the many cruise options available in the Med and there were so many to choose from, Princess, MSC, Celebrity, NCL, Silversea, P&O, Royal Caribbean, Oceania, Crystal, Holland America Line, Viking, Celebrity and Cunard to name a few. How does one decide?

Princess Cruises
