NSW staycation or short break anyone? This is a short video review of a rustic rural Aussie NSW staycation getaway in the Barrington area of NSW located just a few hours north of Sydney. Nirvana Spiritual Retreat is at Cobark not far from Barrington Tops. Check out their website at

NSW Staycation At Nirvana

Unfortunately, Covid-19 has put retreats at Nirvana Spiritual Retreat on pause but it’s still a great place for a short break or NSW staycation with small groups of friends. Think rain-forest bush walks, hit-and-giggle tennis, spa baths, wine and log fires. Whilst not luxury the accommodation here is more than adequate. The location and fun we had with our friends more than made up for any lack of lux on this.

In this area, I also highly recommend a visit to “boutique” Gloucester River Winery on your NSW staycation short break. Here you’ll meet Johnny D, a very passionate and interesting winemaker with plenty of sample wine to go around. Afterward, Johnny D also includes a tour of the farm, cows, and alpacas, making it a great place for families with kids.

Make sure you allow plenty of time (2-3 hours) for the visit before dark. For more information here is the link to Gloucester River Wines

Next, I recommend taking the time to stop off for some scones and cream with tea at The Crepe Myrtle Tea and Coffee Rooms in nearby Stroud. Check out Crepe Myrtle Tea and Coffee Rooms Stroud is a quaint little country town and it is the perfect place to stop to break up a longer NSW staycation drive.
